Are You A Wedding Early
Bird?

Did you know that you could potentially save more than
10% or more on your wedding by just being on time?
Many cost overruns from weddings come from not planning
at the right time. For example, if order your
dress late, you might have to pay express shipping to
get it in, as well as a rush fee on alteration services.
The same compound effect happens if you order your
invitations late because express fees will apply and you
may have to pay the calligrapher a rush fee to address
the envelopes.
Short term planners not only have to pay
express shipping, they often make more costly mistakes
than long-term planners. Short term planners can
often not find the right vendors because most
quality vendors book quickly.
Not taking the time forces you to make decisions out of
need rather than preference. Hasty decisions are often
costly decisions.
Did you take the time to hire the right
person or were you just desperate? This decision
may cost you when it comes crunch time. I have
known a lot of brides who had to fire their caterer or
photographer at the last minute because they were not
having a meeting of the minds, and then they lose their deposit plus
the poor brides had to do more legwork to find a replacement. You may
just decide to do a lot of the work yourself to avoid
such hassles.
However, if you are doing anything yourself (i.e. flowers, invites, favors,
or decorations) it is even more important to plan
ahead. Actually this article was inspired by the many brides each year calling
us to have ribbon and favor supplies rushed at the last
minute
(as if those items were afterthoughts!). If you are
putting these things together, rushing any job can also
create disasters that take money to fix. Remember to
pace yourself by spreading costs throughout time and
always make a backup plans. Correct and timely
planning is much better on the long run on your pocket book
and your peace of mind.
